Onboard Ericsson 3, June 26, 2009, 1130 GMT – Leg 10
Some of the sailors in the fleet have several times commented on our boatspeed, that we are the fastest in the fleet. Well, this morning that certainly wasn’t the case. In just a couple of hours Telefónica Black came up from the horizon and before we even got to pronounce one swear word they were beside us to leeward and kept slipping away. In flat water and breeze around 10 knots we just can’t stand a chance against them.
“But don’t worry guys, sure we are slower than them, but if we sail smarter we can beat them anyway. Roger Nilsson want get away that easy. The race ain’t over yet!”
